Yesterday was our first time participating in a craft fair; it was a last-minute decision after being encouraged by our uncle. We had to work harder for the past 3 weeks because we didn’t have a lot of inventory; everything we have done until now have been made to order. My sister ended up making about 45 macramé bracelets, in 9 colors and 5 designs. I made 25 amigurumi, the frog is not pictured.
This was more of a learning experience, I can’t deny that I wanted to have a profitable day, but at the same time I knew that for being a newbie we might not get a lot of customers. We wanted to get people to know our small business, so our little booth was more of a showroom.
There were a few first timers like ourselves. Although, most of them knew each other, they were kind with us and made us feel welcome. Time flew by so quickly between games, jokes and drawing request with my sister.
Although it was a good day, we are not sure if we should go again next month. I know my dad told us not to get discouraged if things didn’t work out as we hoped for but, we don’t think there is a market for us there. I didn’t see other vendors to make a lot of sales either. Maybe it was a bad day for the fair, with the long Memorial Day weekend and all, most of the people take this 3 day weekend to travel. Anyway, we will think about the next fair, after all we have almost a month. If we end up going what should we bring this time?
